You can get lost and disappear forever

I was hoping to compile a short city guide for São Paulo, but then I found that someone had already prepared one. Silly me.

Meanwhile, back in São Paulo (continued)

Because of your great compassion you did not abandon them in the desert. By day the pillar of cloud did not cease to guide them on their path, nor the pillar of fire by night to shine on the way they were to take.
Nehemiah 9:19

A Comment on Comments

I can understand why some of you may not wish to comment on my more obtuse ramblings, but comments from readers who are not my mum (sorry mum) remind me that you're out there - and it really encourages me.

Please don't be shy - I moderate all comments!

On Motherhood

Martha’s been signing since around ten months old. She would sign "mummy", and if she couldn’t see her mum and she was you know perhaps a little bit distressed I could sign to her "oh, mummy" – and I would say mummy’s coming. But I would sign "mummy" with my hand and she would settle down with that. The sign for mother is "M" shaped by three fingers pointing downwards.

He used to comfort his baby by gently placing his three fingertips on her head, and this would calm her, knowing that it was mother that she wanted and that he understood.
