I have reasons to believe that this person has never being a father, or by real experience he would never state that, or we can call it a fruit of his fantasy, where everything is possible even to say such stupidity.

I think perhaps you may have misunderstood Auden's intent. He is not comparing children to animals, but is instead referring to children's youthful expressions and how as they grow older they develop a 'character' through their facial expressions.
